JEREMY
LUBBOCK
One of the music industry's most respected artists, songwriters,
arrangers and producers, Jeremy Lubbock's versatility
and talent are matched only by his extensive resume. This behind-the-scenes
maestro is an important presence in popular music, having proved
his unique ability to work with a wide array of musical styles and
a diverse roster of talent.
A gifted and mostly self-taught pianist, Lubbock was introduced
to music by his father (a classically trained musician) at age three.
For the next fifteen years, Lubbock immersed himself in the study
of classical music and composition, discovering jazz and the great
American songwriters in his late teenage years.
While attending Oxford University and the London
Architectural Association, Lubbock worked his way through
school by playing piano and singing at small clubs in London and
Paris. Discovered by an agent, Lubbock signed a single deal and
recorded the song "Catch A Falling Star," produced
by Sir George Martin. Throughout the fifties and
sixties, Lubbock, was a traveling musician, playing small venues,
absorbing multiple musical influences and perfecting his skills.
By the early seventies, Lubbock's talents at arranging music earned
him freelance work for the BBC and ITV
in London where he used his classical background to work with big
band and radio orchestras. While respected and successful, Lubbock's
wasn't finding his work personally fulfilling enough.

In 1977, Jeremy Lubbock relocated
to Los Angeles and immediately began working on Joni Mitchell's
"Mingus" album and Minnie Riperton's
final album, "Minnie." His unique approach caught
the ear of legendary producers Quincy Jones and
David Foster who brought Lubbock in to add his
talents to a number of prestigious projects and his career has continued
on a superstar trajectory ever since.
Arranging career highlights include Grammy Awards
for Chicago's "Hard Habit To Break";
the Olympics Gymnastics theme "Grace";
the classic "When I Fall In Love" as recorded
by Celine Dion for the Sleepless In Seattle
soundtrack; Barbra Streisand's "Luck Be
A Lady Tonight"; and Whitney Houston's
"I Have Nothing." Most recently, Lubbock arranged
several songs on Rod Stewart's "Standards"
album, arranged three songs on Michael Jackson's "Invincible"
album, arranged "America The Beautiful" for Mary
J. Blige's and Marc Anthony's performance
at the Super Bowl in 2002 and "The Star
Spangled Banner" for the Backstreet Boys' performance
at the Super Bowl in 2001. Lubbock was the master-crafter who arranged
the posthumous Frank Sinatra duet of "All
The Way" with Celine Dion and the man
who arranged the orchestral production of Led Zeppelin's
"Kashmir" for P. Diddy's remake
of the classic for the motion picture "Godzilla."
Songwriting career highlights include "The Best Of Me"
(co-written with David Foster and Richard
Marx) which was a #2 hit for British pop legend Cliff
Richard in 1989. Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers
and Olivia Newton-John have all chosen to cover
that song as well. Other songwriting success stories for Lubbock
include "With Your Hand Upon My Heart" recorded
by Patti LaBelle and Michael Crawford;
"Ayer" recorded by Luis Miguel;
"This Time" recorded by Neil Diamond;
"Home To Stay" recorded by Josh Groban;
"Not Like This" recorded by Al Jarreau;
"The Sound of Love" recorded by Jennifer
Holliday; and "Whatever We Imagine"
recorded by James Ingram.
In the world of film, Lubbock's credits include music for "The
Color Purple," "Nuts," "Listen To Me,"
"With Honors" and "Waiting to Exhale."
Over the past thirty years, Lubbock's talents have enabled him to
continue working within many genres of music and he continues to
collaborate with artists as wide-ranging as Sting, Madonna,
Dolly Parton, Michael Bolton, Natalie Cole, Kirk Franklin, k.d.
Land, Toni Braxton, Elton John, Jewel, Barbra Streisand, Dionne
Warwick and Celine Dion.
