CONFUNKSHUN
During the height of the funk music scene of the 70's and 80's, the R&B charts were dominated by the California based group CON FUNK SHUN. Featuring Felton Pilate and Michael Cooper on shared lead vocal duty, the seven-man horn-heavy band went from being the most sought-after backing band on the studio scene to a massive success among fans and on radio (including the huge hit "Ffun.") Even today, as musical tastes have shifted over time, the music of CON FUNK SHUN is embraced by younger generations as it is sampled for current tracks and by younger artists. CON FUNK SHUN was the walking definition of funk.

CHRIS LEDOUX
Chris Ledoux is the embodiment of the American Cowboy and the spirit of the American West. His prolific songwriting was inspired by what he knew: rodeo life on the road and the land on which is lived. EXENE CERVANKA/X
When you think American punk rock, you think of X, co-founded by Exene Cervenka and John Doe. The iconic band was at the forefront of the L.A. punk scene in the late 70's and early 80's and their unique sound (for punk music, they managed to blend rockabilly, country and metal influences with harmony and poetic lyrics.) Beloved by rock critics, the band's mainstream success was limited but their role in the history of rock 'n' roll is undeniable. Sammy Cahn is a legendary American songwriters whose success over thirty years in the music, theatre and movie industries left behind a catalogue of memorable hits, as well as twenty-three Academy Award nominations (he won four times,) five Golden Globes and one Emmy Award.
