CARMEN

Born Carman Dominic Licciardello, the Contemporary Christian phenomenon known as CARMAN has amassed a huge following through his recordings, live concerts, videos and books.

Growing up in an Italian-American home in New Jersey in the 1950's, Carman began playing drums and guitar, and was signing by age sixteen. He began performing in clubs in Jersey and across the river in Philadelphia before heading out west to Las Vegas. He attended an Andre Crouch concert and devoted himself, and his talents, to the Christian faith. After five years of ministerial preparation in Oklahoma, Carman began to develop his ministry headquarters for a worldwide outreach. Over the next twenty years, Carman changed the face of Christian music and helped evolve contemporary evangelism into what it is today. Carman established Carman Ministries and Carman World Outreach to spread the gospel and reaches millions of around the globe.

The accolades and praise for his musical ministry grew. In 1990, Billboard honored him as their first ever "Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year." He is a Grammy Award-winning artist, with fifteen gold and platinum albums and videos to his name. He's sold more than ten million records.

His live shows are massive, multi-media events. More than 50,000 people attended his "Music For Peace" crusade in Johannesburg, South Africa, the largest Christian concert ever until Carman broke his own record by drawing more than 70,000 followers to a concert in Texas Stadium. Carman is the world's only stadium level Christian act.

While experimenting with musical genres and new lyrical styles (Carman's work includes songs considered pop, rock, rap, ballads, children's music and traditional praise & worship) he attracted some criticism of his non-traditional approach styles. However, Carman remains focused on his continued efforts to share his music and his faith.

Beyond music, Carmen has written screenplays and books (and recorded the audio versions of those books.) He is a regular host on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and continues to tour and travel, giving speeches and inspiring his followers.
